Experience the Cumberland River
in a whole new way...

Welcome to Patrick's Point

This amazing property has been in our family for 150 years. We want to provide you with a chance to experience the unparalleled beauty of this area in a unique way. We invite you to camp and play on the Cumberland River, and use our grounds for the base camp of your next adventure.

We are Patrick, Angelica, and Dennis. Patrick is a Whitley County native and Angelica is a native of Costa Rica. We’ve lived in many countries: Costa Rica (where Dennis was born), Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, as well as China, and know that there is no place on Earth with the distinctive beauty of Appalachia. Natural arches, waterfalls, peaceful swimming holes, caves, and more are artfully tucked into the local landscape as well as bald eagles, black bear, white tail deer, and maybe even sasquatch! Thanks to our years of experience in the region, we have vast knowledge of the local area and we strive to share that beauty with all who seek it. While some points of interest are officially marked, many are not publicly known. We are happy to recommend unique trails for hiking or rock climbing to those that seek a road less traveled.

Kayak - Tube - Canoe

Patrick’s Point River Camp is one of the few places you can kayak, canoe, or float directly up to the steps of the campground! Pull your gear out of the river and right onto the campground you’ll be staying at for the night.

Don’t already have a craft for the water? We’d be happy to rent you kayaks, a canoe, or tubes for the day (life jackets and paddles provided). We also offer shuttle services so you don’t have to worry about parking or transportation!

Stay The Night With Us

Whether you are wanting a cabin you can park next to, hookups for your RV, or just a quiet, private piece of nature to lay out your sleeping bag under the stars, at Patrick’s Point River Camp you can sleep close enough to the Cumberland River that its gentle sounds can ease you into dreamland.

We are happy to get you settled in and set up with any supplies you may need for your stay. We live on the property and are generally available if you need anything but we tend to give our guests plenty of space and privacy. If you need special assistance, please do not hesitate to ask!

There's so much to do at Patrick's Point!

Without leaving

With over 210 acres of beautiful nature, there’s so much to do without ever leaving Patrick’s Point! We offer the amenities you need to make the most of your time in nature. Clean restrooms, hot showers, wifi and high speed internet, drinking water, ice, equipment rentals, venue space, parking, a delicious meal, and much more!

Gem Mining at Patrick's Point

Gem mining is a family-friendly experience for all ages! Pour the paydirt into our box sifters and dunk it into the flowing water of our handmade flume. Watch as the gently rushing water washes away the dirt and sand, leaving behind the colorful, valuable gemstones. It’s an experience for many of your senses and we invite you to spend as much time as you’d like enjoying it.

The Appalachian region has been a bountiful destination for rock and gem hunters for hundreds of years. Through our world travels, we’ve collected some spectacular geological selections as well. Shop our extensive collection of gemstones, geodes, petrified wood, as well as handmade carvings and jewelry.

Patrick’s Point is a great place to dip your fishing line in the water! We offer over a half mile of river bank to fish in the Cumberland River, as well as a stocked pond if that’s more your speed. Feel free to pet the sheep that are keeping the grass tidy around the pond!

We maintain over 3 miles of walking/hiking trails on our property. Whether you’re hoping to spot some native fauna on the birdhouse trail (marked with over 50 handmade birdhouses) or to get your heart pumping on a trail run along the river then up Patrick’s mountain, there’s so much beauty to be taken in at Patrick’s Point.

There’s nothing like getting far enough away from the city lights to see the majesty of the heavens above in the night sky. Whether you’re an astrophotography aficionado looking for a Bortle 4 site or just want a chance to see the Milky Way with your own eyes, Patrick’s Point River Camp offers peaceful seclusion to enjoy the stars above (clear skies not guaranteed).

A little further

Patrick’s Point makes an amazing basecamp for your outdoor adventures throughout Daniel Boone National Forest, the Upper Cumberland River, or the Appalachian region. Rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, and so much more. There’s countless opportunities just outside our property’s bounds.

The Daniel Boone National Forest is a hidden gem for so many ATV, off-road, and trail horse clubs for myriad reasons. DBNF has over 150 miles of gorgeous terrain for you to explore on your ATV, side by side, dirt bike, mountain bike, trail horse, or even bare feet!

The Cumberland River Falls State Park attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year, and for good reason! The chance to see “the Niagra of the South” or even the acclaimed Moonbow (its the only place to see this phenomenon in the Western Hemisphere), the Cumberland Falls boasts a unique beauty that cannot be found elsewhere. Hikers will also enjoy the out and back to see the more secluded Eagle Falls.

The Great Falls are a scenic 15 mile drive from Patrick’s Point.

What Others Say About Us

What an AMAZING camp!!! The grounds were beautiful and so peaceful. The frogs lulled me to sleep each nigh. We absolutely loved the rock mining and highly recommend everyone do that while they are there. Patrick, Angelica, and Dennis are the best most personable host’s you could ever ask for. The river is great to float, play, and fish. We had the greatest weekend and cannot wait to come back again!

The River Shack was so beautiful and peaceful. Patrick and Angelica were fantastic hosts who were so very kind and generous. We love retreating here for the night in our week long road trip with our son. Would love to visit again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us

We used three different campsites, to accommodate the 10 people in our group. Five children, and five adults. Two of the sites were fully equipped, and one site was equipped with a hammock and sleeping platforms under a tin roof. We cooked on the charcoal grills that are provided and enjoyed the Camp fire pits for treats, like hot dogs and marshmallows. All were easily accessible and very clean. We enjoyed walking along the trails and observing lots of different wildlife and many varieties of trees. The cost for renting kayaks and tubes was very reasonable, and we spent considerable time on the upper Cumberland river. The huge Kentucky Barn is the centerpiece of this adventure campsite. We adults were able to rest and socialize after our excursions while the kids were amused with badminton or ping-pong, discovering gems or trying to befriend the chickens on their evening stroll. The girls were especially interested in gem mining and Angelica was able to educate them regarding what they had found.

Patrick and Angelica are kind and lovely hosts. They took great care of me and made sure I was safe as a single female camping with her old dog. I stayed in a primitive site and loved every minute of it. it was so peaceful and relaxing next to the river.

We arrived at the location and were immediately greeted by a smiling and friendly Patrick and family! Our short stay was so nice and relaxing and we couldn't have asked for better hosts! The campground is clean, well set with many activities to do, and even the other campers were so friendly to us as well! It is like a small community vibe there and it's absolutely the best time we have had camping out at any campsite in the area or surrounding states. Recommend highly that everyone goes to experience what we did!

Everytime we come to Patrick's Point it's enjoyable! This place is a one of a kind camping experience. You have no one close to your site but you're still close enough to the barn and other sites that you don't feel nervous being out there. The Bigfoot cabin is a super cute little A Frame at the bottom of the mountain. It's got 2 cots in it but we folded them up and put a queen size air mattress down which fit perfectly. The hosts of this place are absolutely amazing people! Very friendly, very personable, country folk! Just our kind of people!! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place! We've stayed in a couple of the places here now and each one has something special about it. We will most definitely be back possibly next weekend! We love, love, love this place and the hosts of it! The cumulation of both makes this the best campground I've ever been to hands down!
